Yoga for Health weekly classes
Tuesday Yoga in Brislington with Andrea
Where? Holymead Hub, Rossall Road, Brislington BS4 4HB
When? Tuesdays 6.30 - 8.00pm (see dates below)
These are classes for those who wish to use yoga practices to promote good health and well-being. These are not 'sink or swim' classes and 'no pain no gain' has no place here! These sessions are for you to find ways of maintaining and moving your own body in a way that suits you.
The pace is slow and steady to enable you to develop increased awareness and mindfulness. Sessions will be both challenging and at the same time nurturing for all levels of ability. That includes the fit and well, as well as those dealing with stress-related conditions, injuries, rehabilitation, back pain, menopause, post-natal, arthritis, and management of many conditions. Emphasis is on exploration and mindful awareness of of the body and breath, incorporating aspects of Rolfing movement work.
These classes will help you develop a deeper understanding of your body's structure and how it moves. As well as building strength and flexibility we also explore fitness of the fascial system and what that means in exercise and in everyday life. We will play with our perception of our bodies, and how we relate to the ground, to gravity and to the space around us. This perceptual work helps lead us out of fixed patterns of habitual movement which often leads to poor posture and puts strain on the system. You will be well looked after and given guidance to help you work safely and effectively.
I believe that yoga is available to everyone as a toolbox for life, as long as you find an appropriate practice to suit your needs. I welcome all ages, genders and all levels of experience to the group, including stiff or nervous beginners. Termly themed courses are available to book in advance, or you can come along on a drop-in basis if you prefer.
Please give me a call on 07867 488561 if unsure of your suitability.

"Andrea's class was a welcome invitation to drop the baggage of my day and rest into myself, to be moved from my breath to discover and explore the parts of my body which habitually hold me, to counter the pressures of everyday life." WW
