Rolfing during Covid-19
I re-opened my Bristol Rolfing practice on the 23rd July 2020. I have PPE and hygiene protocols in place. Please see below to find out what I will be doing differently during the pandemic, and what you need to do when you come for your session.
I intend to continue to offer Rolfing in person until the Government prohibits close contact work, or if I consider it to be unsafe for clients or myself.
Read also about my new online consultations for those who can't or prefer not to attend in person.

What I will be doing to keep everyone safe:
- Before you arrive for your session, I will sanitise the door handles, the toilet flush and seat, the bathroom taps and soap pumps and the Rolfing couch.
- I will wear freshly laundered or quarantined clothes for your session.
- I will wear a visor and surgical mask throughout.
- I have surgical masks available for you to use if you don't have your own.
- I will wash my hands and forearms immediately before and after your session.
- I intend to carry out the hands-on work with my bare hands, but have surgical gloves that I can wear if you prefer.
- The window will be open for ventilation. There is a heater and blankets if you feel cold.
- I have a HEPA air purifier that filters the air to 0.3 microns, which includes viruses as well as pollen and other allergens. I will put this on for a period of time before your session, and can also leave it on during your session if you wish.
- Your couch cover will be freshly laundered as always. Any pillow cases used will also be freshly laundered and pillows have waterproof covers underneath.
- Blankets used will be either freshly laundered, or quarantined for at least 3 days.
- Used couch covers and pillow cases will be stored securely until they are washed.
- On the day of your appointment, if I have a temperature or have any cold/flu/Covid-like symptoms, I will contact you to reschedule your session. I will also reschedule if anyone in my bubble family is unwell or if any other Rolfing clients that I have seen within the last 7 days have reported a temperature or feeling unwell.
- In the bathroom I have provided soap, alcohol hand sanitiser and paper hand towels.
- I will allow at least one hour between sessions to allow time for sanitising and to ventilate and filter the air in the room.
What you need to do before coming to your session:
- Please pay the fee for your Rolfing session at least 24 hours in advance, by BACS.
- If you have a high temperature, or other possible Covid-19 symptoms (see here) on the day of your appointment, please get in touch to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you have been in contact with anyone in the last 7 days who is experiencing symptoms or who has tested positive for Covid-19, please get in touch as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment. The usual 24-hour cancellation fee will NOT apply.
- Please shower and put on clean clothes and underwear as close as possible to setting off to your session.
- If possible avoid stopping off along the way.
- Remember to bring a water bottle or cup. (The water in the bathroom is mains drinking water.)
What to do when you arrive:
- If the front door is open please go on in and up the stairs. If not, ring the large doorbell, or call me on your phone 07867 488561.
- Leave your shoes downstairs in the hallway.
- At the top of the stairs, the bathroom is on your right. Please wash your hands thoroughly before going into the Rolfing room, which is opposite the bathroom, at the other end of the landing. You will find coat hooks to hang your coat on the wall just outside the Rolfing room.
- Please go on in and take a seat on one of the wooden chairs near the door. If I'm not already there, I'll join you shortly.
- After our initial discussion, usually the client works in underwear. If you prefer to stay fully clothed, that is possible too.
- At the end of the session, please wash your hands again before leaving.
Online Rolfing consultations
I am offering online Rolfing consulations. These are 40 minutes long and aimed at those experiencing pain or discomfort, but who can't or prefer not to attend in person.
We can use any platform, eg. Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp, Messenger, and you will need to have enough space to be able to stand back from your device so I can see your whole body on my screen. You need to be alone in a private space for the duration of the session. If you live in or near Bristol, a distanced meeting in an outside space is also possible, with a phone call to follow up. This can be useful in looking at walking or running patterns.
During the session we will discuss the issues you are having with your body. I will carry out some body reading and gait analysis, and will ask to see some simple movements. I will receive a verbal assessment and advice regarding everyday movement and activities that you do frequently, eg. sitting at a desk. I will instruct you in some yoga-based physical exercises or perceptual exercises, which you can continue to practice and explore at home.

Concessions are always available for those on low income. I fully understand the financial pressure that the Covid-19 lockdown has put some people under (myself included). Please don’t let this deter you from booking a treatment, particularly if you are in urgent need of pain relief. I am always willing to discuss a reduced fee that suits us both or other payments terms.

Testimonials
"Andrea works in a very intuitive way. After my first session I could feel a distinct change in my mental attitude and my levels of energy from low and negative to feeling taller and mentally more alert and happier. Rolfing is an amazing therapy in the right hands and Andrea has the right hands." KH
"Been having Rolfing treatments with Andrea for over a year and find her treatments always helpful in correcting my posture and boosting my energy levels. I completed the 10 sessions and now still return for top ups." JB
"It's now over a year since I finished my sessions with Andrea and I am still experiencing all the benefits from that time. At the beginning my lower legs were sore just to the touch but they are now virtually pain free. I have more freedom of movement and my energy is better. The sessions are quite an investment, but I would encourage people to invest in themselves because the long-term benefits can be so significant. Thanks Andrea." FG
"Session 1: Thank you for an enjoyable and profitable time yesterday. My body is busy integrating the information fed by your hands.
Session 2: A quick feed back on my recent Rolfing session. Matters much improved, it's lovely to walk without limping. Thanks again.
Session 3: A brief follow up on my progress following my Rolfing session. Four weeks on and I am back to normal and it feels great. So thanks to Rolfing and yoga I am at ease in my body." TC
