Yoga Teacher Training 2011

The start date of this course is not yet scheduled, and the location is yet to be confirmed (probably Minehead or Bristol).  If you are interested in applying for this course, please email to express your interest, stating your location.  Many thanks.

Students in teacher training workshopOn entering this 3-year course, we begin a journey together. As tutor I see my role as one of support and guidance as you go through the process of becoming a yoga teacher. You are encouraged to start teaching towards the end of the first year of training. After that time the course becomes an invaluable support as you begin to teach. I find that by spacing the study days a month apart this gives time and space to develop skills and ideas. As with any journey it will have its highs and lows, and will undoubtedly be hard work. It is however hugely rewarding, and will take us all further along the road of self-discovery.

My yoga teacher training course follows the syllabus of the British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma and is verified by the BWY. There is one Saturday study day a month in Minehead (one per year will be a residential weekend), with written homework and regular yoga practice in between. You are insured to teach once you are enrolled on the course. The course lasts for just over three years, and on completion, students receive the BWY Diploma - see www.bwy.org.uk for details.

This syllabus provides a sound framework for us to work with and opportunities for you to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding. Each Diploma Course Tutor delivers this course slightly differently, depending on their own interests and experience. You are encouraged to teach in your own way, but it makes sense to find a tutor whose approach works for you as you will have to work together for 3 years. Please look elsewhere on this website to find out more about my approach and interests. If you are considering applying for this course and we have never worked together before, I invite you attend one of my yoga classes, or come along to a workshop. It may also be possible for you to meet some of my current Diploma students (please ask).

The British Wheel of YOGAPrerequisites for this course are that you have been practising yoga with a qualified teacher for at least 3 years and that you have the BWY Foundation Course certificate (or equivalent). I highly recommend that you do a BWY Foundation Course before applying for a Diploma Course, even as an experienced student. This course helps you to develop your own practice and orientate you on your own path before you go on to teaching others. It also gives you a taste of the style of learning to see if it suits you before you commit to the full 3-year course.

If you have any questions about my teacher training courses please get in touch.  If you are interested in applying for a place on the Diploma 2011 course, please email to register an interest and I will send you an information pack as soon as the course is open for applications.
