There are just three spaces left on my next teacher training course beginning in Bristol in March 2012. This will be the new level 4 BWYQ qualification. An application pack is available containing full information. If you are interested in applying, please email andrea@yogauk.com to request an application pack. There are two induction days on 22nd October and 3rd December (if you have missed these please get in touch to discuss how you can catch up). Below is some initial information about the course, along with some feedback and advice from previous students.
You are encouraged to start teaching towards the end of the first year of training. After that time the course becomes an invaluable support as you begin to teach.
I find that by spacing the study days a month or so apart this gives time and space to develop skills and ideas. As with any journey it will have its highs and lows, and will undoubtedly be hard work. It is however hugely rewarding, and will take you further along the road of self-discovery.
My yoga teacher training course follows the syllabus of the British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma and is verified by the BWY and BWYQ. This is a 'Level 4' qualification - click here to find out more about what that means. There will be eight study weekends per year, totalling 300 hours. There will also be personal tutorials, written homework and regular yoga practice in between study weekends.
You are insured to teach once you are enrolled on the course and so can begin to earn money from your teaching. The course lasts for around three years, and on completion, students receive the BWY Diploma - see www.bwy.org.uk for details.
The syllabus provides a sound framework for us to work with and provides opportunities for you to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding. Each BWY Diploma Course Tutor (DCT) delivers this course slightly differently, depending on their own interests and experience. You are encouraged to teach in your own way, but it makes sense to find a tutor whose approach works for you as you will have to work together for 3 years. Please look elsewhere on this website to find out more about my approach and interests. If you are considering applying for this course and we have never worked together before, I invite you attend one of my yoga classes, or enrol on a workshop. It may also be possible for you to meet some of my current Diploma students (please ask).
I highly recommend that you do a BWY Foundation Course before applying for a Diploma Course, even as an experienced student. This course helps you to develop your own practice and orientate you on your own path before you go on to teaching others. It also gives you a taste of the style of learning before you commit to the full 3-year course. If you don't have the BWY Foundation Course then please get in touch to discuss whether your existing yoga experience is sufficient to support your application for this teacher training course or whether you need to gain some additional experience before the course begins and how you might go about getting that.
If you have any questions about my teacher training course please get in touch for a chat. If you are interested in applying for a place on the Diploma course, please request an application pack. Click here for more feedback and advice from previous students |
